Privacy Policy

Information we collect

When you submit the case review form we collect the name, telephone number, email address, matter type, and summary you provide. Our servers also record standard technical data — IP address, browser type, referring page, and time of visit — for security and traffic analysis.

How we use it

Inquiry information is used to run a conflicts check, respond to you, and — if we are engaged — to open and maintain your client file. Technical data is used only in aggregate to maintain and improve the site. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Confidentiality before engagement

Submitting the form does not create an attorney-client relationship, and information sent before we confirm an engagement is not protected by the attorney-client privilege. Please keep your initial summary general and withhold sensitive details until we have confirmed that we can represent you.

Cookies

The site uses a small number of functional cookies and privacy-respecting analytics. No third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are set. You can block cookies in your browser without losing access to any part of the site.

Retention and security

Inquiries that do not become engagements are retained for two years for conflicts purposes and then deleted. Client files are retained for seven years after a matter closes, as Illinois professional conduct rules require. Data is stored encrypted, and access is limited to firm personnel who need it.

Your choices

You may ask us what information we hold about you, request a correction, or ask that we delete an inquiry that did not become a matter. Write to intake@thornwicklaw.com and we will respond within thirty days.
